Thomas J. Jurski, 87, of Gibsonburg, OH passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont. He was born in Toledo, OH the son of Ernest and Avis (Krotzer) Jurski on November 21, 1933.
Tom graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1951 and went on to enlist in the United States Navy. From 1951-1955 he served in the United States and Cuba. On October 21, 1953 he married Betty McKinney in Toledo, OH.
Tom spent years in banking at Home Bank in Gibsonburg and retired from Citizen’s Savings Bank. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, volunteered his time on Gibsonburg School Board and as the former Clerk of Schools. Sports were his favorite pastime. He loved his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. His joy in life was his family. Tom and Betty enjoyed wintering in Florida, playing golf and missing all the Ohio snow.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 68 years, Betty Jurski of Gibsonburg, OH; children: Brad (Marianne) Jurski of Gibsonburg, OH and Teresa Shreffler of Maumee, OH; grandchildren: Brandi (Brad) Gillespie, Dorene (Mike) Testmeyer, Nicholas (Amy) Jurski, Brittney (Patrick) Shreffler; Colby (Anne) Shreffler, Heather (Steve) Shreffler, Jordan (Andria) Shreffler, Stephanie (Steve) Smith and Ashley (Aaron) Roach; 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Constance Grunert and son-in-law Steve Shreffler.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, OH. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 A.M. Pastor Matthew Zuehlke will officiate. Burial will follow West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg, with military graveside rights. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gibsonburg Educational Foundation.
