Sharon Wurzel

Sharon Ann (Raubenolt-Chudzinski) Wurzel, 83, of Fremont, passed Thursday, November 25, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. Sharon was born on September 3, 1938 in Fostoria, OH to Robert and Helen (Lehmann) Raubenolt. She graduated in 1956 from St. Joseph High School. She attended Mary Manse College in Toledo, OH from 1956 to 1958 where she received her teaching certificate. Sharon taught at St. Joseph Elementary School until she married Edward D. Chudzinski on August 13, 1960. Edward died on May 7, 1984, losing his battle with cancer. Sharon returned to St. Ann School teaching Montessori from 1985 to June 1988. Sharon then played an instrumental part in starting St. Ann's Daycare, where she served as director for 10 years until she retired in 1998.

 

Sharon was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she served on the St. Joseph Blessed Sacrament Confraternity. Sharon was also a former member of St. Ann Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. Sharon was a member of the St. Ann Society and the Parish Funeral Committee.

 

Sharon married Terry Wurzel on August 20, 1993. Sharon and Terry enjoyed taking trips to Jamaica, Ireland, England and Canada, along with shorter trips to Mackinac Island in Michigan, Amish country and fishing trips on their boat in Lake Erie. For many years they wintered in Okeechobee, FL. They enjoyed watching their grandchildren participate in sporting events and school activities and playing cards with friends and family. Sharon was an avid Notre Dame fan.

 

Surviving are her husband Terry; precious children Tony (Diana) of Fremont, Helen (Jeff) Proctor of Weston, Jeff of Tiffin, and Julie (Matt) Wilhelm of Bowling Green; T.J. (Anita) Wurzel of Port Clinton, Susan (Bobby) Frye of Fremont;14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Edmund and William Raubenolt, sister, Kay Szymanowski all of Fremont; sister Vicki Yeager of Toledo. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Ed Chudzinski, parents Robert and Helen Raubenolt, and brother Robert (Butch) Raubenolt.

 

Visitation will take place Monday, November 29, 2021 from 2-7P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North St, Fremont. Rosary services will begin at 7:00P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St, Fremont OH, with Father Michael Roemmele officiating. The family is requesting masks be worn for all services. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Millersville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Easter Seals or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
