Sharon Cahill, 89 of Fremont, died on March 10, 2026 in Fremont. She was born on October 23rd, 1936 in Malinta, OH to her parents Lester and Leota (Rettig) Sickmiller. Sharon graduated in 1954 from Malinta Grelton High School. On August 6, 1968 she married Herb Cahill in West Virginia.
Sharon worked her way through Defiance College and received her teaching certificate. She taught Spanish at Ottawa Glandorf and Fremont Ross HS and subbed for many years at Ross.
Sharon was from a generation that didn't have high school girl's sports, but made up for it as an adult. She was an avid bowler and was proud of her 600 series. She also taught Swimnastics at the Y, played tennis (lifetime record against her son was 400-1), played racquetball, and golfed. She also loved competing in cards.
Sharon loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She traveled the B10 and local high school scenes rooting from the stands.
She is survived by her son, John (Lindi) Cahill of Clyde; granddaughters, Amanda (Henry) Pwono of Sylvania, Caroline Cahill of Toledo, and Abigail Cahill of Chicago; grandson Jake of Clyde. Sisters Clara Eitzman of Edgerton and Martha Sickmiller of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herb; siblings Edwin, James, Arnold, Eldon, Lois Marie, and twin sister Shirley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15 from 2:00-3:30PM at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont with a memorial service beginning at 3:30PM at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Fremont Ross Boys Basketball Program in Sharon's memory.
