Sandra Ann Jones

Sandra Ann (Ellis) Jones, 79 of Gibsonburg passed away on Sunday, December 17, surrounded by her family at her home in Gibsonburg, Ohio.

She was born on January 15, 1944 to the late Kenneth and Anna (Heinrich) Ellis in Omaha, NE. 

A 1962 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Sandy attended Bowling Green State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She taught Business at Woodmore High School for 26 years, followed by 10 years of substitute teaching.  She took great pride in being the yearbook advisor and enjoyed many senior trips as class advisor.  

On December 19, 1964, she married Philip E. Jones. 

She loved attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  She traveled many miles and spent many hours in gymnasiums, natatoriums, fields, and theatres.  She loved all things sports, especially Ohio State, Cleveland, and NASCAR.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Philip; children, Eric (Traci) Jones of Gibsonburg, Natalie (Duane) Decker of Pemberville, Keith (Sara) Jones of Griffin GA, and Jodi (Brian) Blevins of West Lafayette, IN.  Grandchildren, Katelyn (Chris) Bowe of Charlotte, NC, Tyler (Samantha) Decker of Gilbert, AZ, Nathan (Cassie) Decker of Waterville, OH, Logan (Jessica) Jones of Helena, OH, Alec Jones of Stone Mountain, GA, Alyssa (Clay) Rolf of Bowling Green, OH, Emma Jones of Charlotte, NC, Anna (Trenton) Melby of  Pyeongtaek, South Korea, William Jones of Griffin, GA, Grant Blevins, Conner Blevins, and Drew Blevins of West Lafayette, IN, and great grandchildren, Emelia Post-Decker and Luka Decker of Gilbert, AZ, Kooper Jones and Krew Jones of Helena, OH, and Parker Bowe of Charlotte, NC.  She’s also survived by several treasured in-laws, nieces, and nephews.  The love between family knows no distance.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Anna Ellis; sister Joann Borton, brothers Larry Ellis, Ronald Ellis, and Jim Hickman, in-laws Robert and Miriam Jones, and nephew Christopher Jones.

Visitation for Sandy will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg. Memorial services will follow at the funeral home at 2:00pm.
