Ruth Ann Hill, 86, of Fremont passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in Fremont, OH with her family surrounding her with love and prayers.
She was born on October 11, 1939 in Fremont to the late Carl and Florence (Klein) Wammes.
Ruth was a graduate of St. Joseph High School class of 1957. After graduation she married Jim Duncan and they had 2 daughters. They divorced in 1976. She worked for attorney Bristley after taking a brief hiatus to raise her daughters. She went on to work for Sandusky County probate court as Chief deputy clerk. She retired in 2000.
On October 10, 1987, she married Rodney Hill, he preceded her in death in 2009. Ruth was well known as the dancing queen who took every opportunity to dance. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. For many years she volunteered at Hayes Presidential Center, Share and Care, and at Fremont Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rochelle (Mark) Schroeder and Renee (Bobby) Jones; grandson; Kevin (Emily) Addair; sister-in-law Karen Wammes; many beloved nieces and nephews and her step children, Natalie Krieger, Nathan (Tammy) Hill and Monica (Todd) Bermeister; 7 step-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Paul (Madalyn) Wammes, Marie (Gilbert) Wagner, Bernard Wammes, Margaret (Russell) Spanfellner, (Teddie) Gearheart; Carl, Jr. (Pearl) Wammes; Edith (Floyd) Overmyer; Merle (Billie) Wammes, and Earl J. Wammes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North St. Fremont, OH 43420, Vigil services will take place a t 6:45PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 15, 2026 prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30AM, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Church for funeral services at 10 AM. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Heartland Hospice or Elmwood Care Center.
