Obituary

Richard John Kollman, 75, of Fremont, passed away on April 14, 2026, at St. Catherine’s Manor of Fostoria. He was born on August 12, 1950, in Fremont to Richard Phillip and Betty (Turley-Shrout) Kollman. Richard was a 1969 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. On July 20, 1969, he married Gloria Jean Killen in Oak Harbor, and they celebrated 47 years of marriage until her passing on July 12, 2017.

Richard was a hardworking man, laboring in various retail jobs over his career. He was with Food Town for over 25 years, was a Schwann ice cream man for 15 years, and was also employed at the Fremont News Messenger, various pizza restaurants and Famous Supply before he eventually retired.

Famous for his sense of humor, Richard is remembered for being a jokester who had a talent for whistling. His family was his number one priority and through his hard work he made sure his children were able to have whatever they wanted. Whether it was playing various sports or doing ballet, he made sure they had the opportunity to expand their interests. Richard was also a huge football fan, with the Pittsburg Steelers and Michigan being his favorite teams to cheer for.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Angela Sherman, Amy Kollman, Nikki Kollman-Baker, Jason Kollman; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, and sister, Charlotte Zimmerman. In addition to his parents and wife, Gloria Jean Kollman, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael John Kollman; grandsons, Kyle Humphrey and Dakota Kollman; great-grandson, Jalen Kollman; brother, Phillip Campbell and sister, Vickie Smith.
