Richard A. "Rich" Geyman, 82, of Fremont, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at Elmwood Assisted Living. He was born November 22, 1939 in Fremont the son of Herman "Sam" and Dorothy (Bergefurd) Geyman.
Rich was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, attended Republican Political Schools throughout Ohio, U.S. Forest Ranger School in Alturas, CA and Survey and Safety School in Bowling Green, OH. He was a Certified Engineer Tech II with the State of Ohio Survey Department. He retired in 1994 after 34 years of service. Rich served with the United States Coast Guard and was voted "Best Shipmate" Class of 1963.
He was a member and usher of St. Joseph Church and volunteered his time in the cafeteria at St. Joseph Schools. He also held memberships with Sandusky County Republican Party, the Elks, Fremont Country Club, Fremont Yacht Club, Engineering Technician Association, V.F.W. & American Legion. Rich and Linda were active volunteers and Rutherford B. Hayes Library and Museum.
Rich's GOP affiliations included Chairman of the Ohio Young Republicans Quarterly convention, Victory Ball Chairman and an attendee at numerous state inaugurations and dinners.
On March 17, 1994 he married Linda L. Lohrbach in Las Vegas, NV; 4 years later they exchanged vows at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2019.
Surviving are close friends Shannon & Mike Reardon and Brandi & Randy Wammes of Fremont and their families; in-laws: Gary Maynard of Gibsonburg, Paula (Randall) Staul of Lewis Center, OH, and Mark (Deb) Lohrbach of Butler, PA 6 nieces & nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 3-6 P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. Vigil services will begin at 6:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00A.M. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, OH. Fr. Michael Roemmele will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum or St. Joseph Church
