Philip G. Steinle

Philip G. Steinle, 87, of Fremont, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his residence. He was born May 26, 1933 in Fremont, the son of Albert W. and Dorothy B. (Mehling) Steinle. Phil was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph High School and went on to attend the General Motors Institute.  On November 14, 1953 he married Joan B. Larkins at St. Ann Catholic Church.

Together with his father Albert, Phil founded, and owned the Steinle auto dealership for 61 years. Phil was a 60-year member of the National, Ohio and County Auto Car Dealer Association, a 3^rd Degree Knight of Columbus and an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In his 65-year tenure with the Coast Guard he achieved numerous designations.

Surviving is his wife Joan of Fremont; children: Philip G. (Heather Halm McAfee) Steinle , Christine M. (Rick) Root, Nanette (Arnel Tagle) Steinle, Stephen A. (Tammy) Steinle, Roxanne Steinle, Dorita (Tom Humbard) Snyder, Gary (Shari Reineck) Steinle; friends of the family Jeanine Steinle, Michelle Nowakowski; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8P.M. at Herman -Karlovetz Funeral Home and Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH 43420, where Coast Guard Auxiliary Services will take place at 4P.M. and vigil services at 7:45P.M.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, OH. Fr. Michael Roemmele will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools or Heartland Hospice.
