Philip Santiago

September 13, 1951 — October 28, 2023

Philip Santiago, 72, of Fremont passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Valley View Health Care Center surrounded by family. He was born on September 13, 1951 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico to the late Jesus and Margarita (Arias) Santiago.

After moving to Ohio at a young age, Philip attended Fremont Ross. For many years, he worked as a woodworker and cabinetmaker for Wilson Cabinet in Killbuck, Ohio later returning to Fremont.

Philip was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and wood working. Every fall would become more enjoyable as football season approached and he could cheer on the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Anna (Edward) Middleton of Fremont; special nieces, Rosa Meza and Lou Ann (Pete) Lozano all of Fremont; along with several other nieces & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews, and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rosa M. Morales and Brunilda Santiago; and brother Charles Santiago.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont on Monday, November 6th from 10AM-Noon where funeral services will begin at 12:00PM. Deacon Tim Walters will officiate, and burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont.

Philip wanted to acknowledge and thank his nieces, Rosa, Lou Ann; great nieces, Renee Meza and Jina Meza; and longtime caregiver, Beatrice Sydney for the undivided, loving care and attention that was provided to him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude as well to Valley View Healthcare for accepting Philip as part of their family, providing him with exceptional care.
