Patricia Ann Kerns

Patricia Ann Kerns, 80, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, Dec. 28 in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by her family. She was born on March 18, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. Patricia was the daughter of the late Russell and Helen (Harris) Kerns and grew up in Fremont, Ohio.

She was a 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and a 1964 graduate of The Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work.

Pat was employed for almost 30 years by both the Franklin County Welfare Department and the Ohio Welfare Department. She enjoyed reading, horse racing, baseball and Ohio State sports.

Surviving are brother James (Tressie) Kerns of Texas, sister Linda Kerns of Arizona and brother Jon (Pam) Kerns of Fremont. She is also survived by special nieces Alyssa (Karan) Patel of Cincinnati and Emily Kerns of Chicago, and special nephew Aaron (Kyira) Kerns of Cincinnati.

Visitation and services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Herman Funeral Homes and Crematory of Fremont and Gibsonburg. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, due to her life-long love of cats.
