Mildred G. Smith

February 16, 1930 — December 15, 2020

Mildred Genevieve Smith, 90, passed away in the early morning of December 15, 2020 at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was born on February 16, 1930 to the late Rev. Fred B. and Hazel E. (Kimberling) Harmon in Grimm’s Landing, West Virginia.

On March 19, 1951, she married Robert Paul Smith in Gallipolis, Ohio, and shared 38 years in marriage until his passing in 1989.

Mildred was a true matriarch, providing guidance and love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved camping and going to bluegrass festivals. Crafting was also a favorite pastime, and often gifted homemade quilts to those she loved. Her family will remember her good cooking and love of shopping as well.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Rick (Jacqueline) Smith; brother, Fred D. Harmon (Nell Stiltner); sisters-in-law, Amelia (Anderson), Margaret (Boger), and May (Wandling); grandchildren, Jonathan (Tricia Fosgate) Smith, Brian (Jena) Smith, Adam (Sissy Gallagher) Smith, Courtney Smith, Rhonda (Michael) Johnson, and Jason (Janet) Babcock; and 16 great grandchildren.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Fred and Hazel; husband, Robert Paul; children, Eunice and Roger; siblings, Dorsel W. (Mildred Woodall), Bessie E. (Arden H. Casto), John W. (Geraldine M. Snyder), Boneva R. (M. Allen Clark), Joseph I., Dencil, Charles H., Kenneth P. (Florence E. Stahl), and Don O. Harmon.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, December 21 at Herman-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please note that masks must be worn correctly to enter the building and wait times may occur outside.
