Mercedes Hernandez

Mercedes Maria Hernandez, 80 of Gibsonburg passed away in the early morning of July 3, 2021, at her home.

She was born on March 21, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Tiburcio and Mercedes (Revilla) Vega. Mercedes was one of four children.

Mercedes and her husband, Jerry R. Hernandez, spent 22 loving years together in marriage before his passing in 1998.

She was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gibsonburg and loved to crochet and read in her spare time.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lois Ortega of Whittier, CA, Cindy (Ken) Plummer of Millersville, OH, Patti (Don) Fischer of Oregon, OH, Linda (Jeff) Fricke of Dalzell, SC, Jerry Paul Hernandez of Seattle, WA, and Beth M. Hernandez of Union City, IN; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mercedes is preceded in death by her parents, Tiburcio and Mercedes; husband, Jerry R. Hernandez; as well as her three siblings, Joe Vega, Alex Vega, and Bea Carrillo.

A memorial service for Mercedes will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 317 E. Madison St., Gibsonburg, Ohio, with Fr. Ted Miller officiating. A time of visiting from 9:30 - 10:30 AM will be held prior to the service.
