Martin Joseph Recny

Martin Joseph Recny, 92, of Gibsonburg, entered into his rest Monday, May 17, 2021 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1929 in Rossford, OH the son of Martin and Mary (Ralbosky) Recny. Martin was a graduate of Harris Elmore High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Korea. Upon his return stateside, he worked as an Electrician for Ford Motor Company and enjoyed farming and raising Hereford Beef Cattle an endeavor he began in 1963. On January 20, 1951 he married Phyllis Maxine Johnson, she preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. Together with his loving wife Phyllis, whom he affectionately called "blue eyes" they raised 7 children encouraging them to excel in life. He was a member of Elmore American Legion, United States Power Squadron as well as Triumph Foundation Church and St. John’s Lutheran. Surviving are children: Robin Cornell of Lindsey, OH; Susan (Luke) Lawrence of Burgoon, OH; Martin Recny, Jr. and Mark (Viola) Recny both of Gibsonburg, OH; Amy Evans of Bradner, OH; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister Anna Chambers of Martin, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, sons Michael Recny, Robert Recny; great-grandchildren Chelsea Cougar and Joshua Adkins; siblings Rudy Recny and Margaret Heins. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 5-8P.M. at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, at the funeral home where additional visitation will begin at 9:00A.M. Masks will be required for entry in the funeral home, social distancing measures will be in place. Burial will follow at Hessville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 279, St. John’s Lutheran Church or Triumph Foundation Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
