Marcia (Kittel) Humberger

July 13, 1937 — June 7, 2021

Marcia (Kittel) Humberger, 83, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, at her Fremont home. She was born on July 13, 1937, in Toledo to the late Harold and Hazel (Ried) Treby.

Marcia graduated from Maumee High School, Michigan State University with an Associate Degree in Business, and Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was employed by Fremont City Schools as a teacher for 27 1/2 years and as a substitute for 10 years, and as an Ohio Reads Coordinator at Otis Elementary.

On September 6, 1958, she married William A. Kittel, Jr. and together they built a loving home raising their daughters, Karen and Susan. He passed away on March 24, 2007. On December 26, 2009, she married Robert Humberger and he survives along with his 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she participated in Church Council (Elders), Abigail Circle (past President), Choir, and the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Fremont Federation of Women, Sandusky County Organization of Retired Teachers SCORT (past President), Ohio Retired Teachers Organization where she initiated scholarships for students to attend college, Red Hats Club, Bridge Clubs, Phi Mu Alumni of BGSU, she worked for the Board of Elections as a Precinct Judge, and was a member of the Women of the Moose. In addition to her organizations, Marcia volunteered for Fremont Memorial Hospital, Hospice of Memorial Hospital, and Fremont Schools. She enjoyed travels to Europe, Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, Panama Canal, and all of the United States, but she loved most of all being with her family and friends.

Marcia is survived by husband, Robert Humberger of Fremont; children, Karen (Tim) Oberst of Findlay and Susan (Mark) King of Fremont; grandchildren, Seth (Elizabeth) Oberst, Ethan Oberst, Jennifer (Mitchell) Cromes, Jared (Samantha) King; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Emerson, and Monroe Cromes and Elizabeth King.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Gwendolyn Boote, Nancy Silva and William Treby.

Visitation for Marcia will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 5:00-7:00PM at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory. An additional hour of visitation will be held prior to the start of service at St. John's Lutheran Church from 10-11AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021, where Funeral Services will begin at 11:00AM. Rev. Paul Bailie will officiate, and burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in Marcia's name to the St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
