Lois Jean Anderson

July 23, 1948 — December 30, 2020

Lois Jean Anderson, 72, of Gibsonburg, passed away on December 30, 2020 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital due to complications from Covid-19. She was born in Norwalk, Ohio on July 23, 1948 to Irving John and Beatrice (Erb) Anderson. Lois graduated from New London High School, earned her undergraduate degree from Union College in Kentucky in education in the areas of math and physical education and her Masters at BGSU in physical education. She taught in Iberia, Gibsonburg, Woodville and finally at Owens Technical College after her retirement. Over the course of her career Lois acted not only as a teacher, but also a tutor, volleyball coach, ski club leader, class advisor and chaperone on various school trips. Her loving and kind nature spilled over into all aspects of her life. She was always helping her neighbors with errands, was a wonderful sister and a supportive aunt to her nieces and nephews.

In her younger years, Lois was active in 4-H and had a burro and several horses, her favorite being her palomino. She loved going camping with her family which grew into a love for travel throughout her life. She has been to all 50 states as well as several countries. She was very active at Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg where she was on the finance committee and participated in church events. When she was not traveling or volunteering, she enjoyed doing puzzles, sewing, cooking, and being with her family. She loved dogs and rescued many over the years, with her favorite being her greyhound.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Beatrice Anderson, sisters; Joyce (Robin) Senz, Karen Anderson, Tami (Christian) Gibbons, nieces, and nephews; Chris Senz, Heather (Josh) Birk, Kaylinne (Dan) Markiewicz, Melinda Senz (Ed Cervenka), Meghan Gibbons, and 7 great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Due to the contagious nature of Covid-19, a small family gathering will be held at a later date. Lois and her family want to encourage everyone to stay safe, wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 795 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431, Toledo Humane Society, 827 Illinois Avenue, Maumee OH, 43537, or Humane Society of Sandusky County, 1315 N. River Road, Fremont, OH, 43420.
