Leonard Wells

Leonard L. Wells, 84, of Helena passed away on July 19, 2023. Born on April 6, 1939 in Oregon, OH, he was a son of Norman and Chloe (Ames) Wells.

Leonard was a Gibsonburg High School graduate. He worked as a laborer at Brush Wellman for 19 years and Fenner-Dunlop for 4 years following. He was also a member of the former Fremont Moose and the Fremont Eagles. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and Leonard leaves a legacy of being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

On March 22, 1958, he married Marvis Filliater in Helena, OH. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2017. Together, they raised 5 children.

Left to cherish his memory are children, Robert L. (Tracy) Wells, Pamela K. (Thomas) Luc, all of Fremont, Allen N. (Angela) Wells of McCormick, SC, Nancy A. (Jim) Lipstraw of Lindsey, and Cindy (Jeff) Parker of Castalia; grandchildren, Chris (Lena) Wells, Lindsay (Steve) Centofanti and Derek (Katelynn) Wells, Andrew Luc and Megan (Adam) Binner, Shannon (Greg) Bass, David Pardo and Alison (Will) Schauman, Renee (Katherine) and Steven (James) Lipstraw, Nichole (Evan) Kocsis, Megan (Danny Green) Keegan, Haley (Adam) Hipp and Kacey (Jordan) Vetomskie; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Davies of Gibsonburg.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marvis Wells; parents; siblings, Genniel (Jim) Steinmetz and Rollind (Claryce) Wells; grandson, Justin Mumy; and brother-in-law, Donald Davies.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Valley View and ProMedica Heartland Hospice for their excellent care of Leonard.

Visitation for Leonard will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 3-5 PM at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg. There will be an additional hour of visitation held at the funeral home Monday, July 24, 2023 from 10:00AM-11:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM with Deacon Mike Dazley officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
