Lela Brown

Lela Brown, 77, of Bellevue, passed away May1, 2025 at the Bellevue Hospital. She was born on September 2, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Lee and Helen (Papp) Scurlock. Lela graduated high school in Newbury, Ohio, and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Later, she became a case worker for the Sandusky County Department of Job & Family Services, dedicating over 30 years of services until her retirement.

Lela found joy in the simplest of moments spent with her loved ones, especially her grandkids, always engaging wholeheartedly in whatever activity they undertook. Whether it was a simple gathering, a holiday celebration, or an afternoon filled with games, she relished every opportunity to create lasting memories with her loved ones.

Lela also had a special fondness for the thrill of the casino, where she enjoyed testing her luck and reveling in the excitement of the games.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Jamie) Brown of Nevada, Bradley (Tammy) Brown of Castalia, OH; grandchildren, Trevor (Paige) Brown, Allyson (James) Conner; step-grandchildren, Steven, Noah and Mackenzie Metzker; niece, Linda (Mike) Williamson; nephew, Russ (Marcie) Swank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Swank and Lee Scurlock Jr.
