Lavonne Babione

Lavonne J. Babione, 76, of Fremont passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1949 in Fremont a daughter of Roman and Lavina (Halbisen Pahl) Gabel.

Lavonne graduated from Lakota High School in 1967. She continued her education studying cosmetology.

On Nov. 18, 1972, she married the love of her life, William Babione. Lavonne worked as a hairdresser prior to the birth of her children. As the children got older, she continued her caring nature working at the St. Bernadine Home as a housekeeper for 29 years.

Along with being a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lavonne was an avid member of E-Z Fitness. She enjoyed taking bus trips with her husband and picking from their home grown raspberry bushes and making desserts from them.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, William; children, Bill Babione of Marblehead, Brian Babione of Sandusky and Brooks (Jamie) Babione of Burgoon; grandchildren, Elena and Emma; siblings, Gerald (Kathleen) Gabel, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Greg (Annette) Gabel, Burgoon, Ohio, Laurie (Greg) Stang, Lambertville, Michigan; and brother in law, Tim (Cindy) Fate, Lambertville, Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gerard Gabel and Gary Gabel; and sister, Lynette Gabel Fate.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont from 4-7PM where a vigil will be said in the evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025 at 10AM with burial following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont.

Memorials in honor of Lavonne may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or NAMI.
