Laurie Miller Sistrunk passed away at her home on August 26th after a brave battle with cancer. A fiercely devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, she will be missed immeasurably.
Laurie was born on March 30, 1957 to Don and Harriet (Hoffman) Miller in Fremont and raised in Ohio and Florida, graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1975. Laurie was a sweet, caring child with a fondness for animals, especially turtles. As she grew, she leveraged that penchant for connection into a wildly successful career in sales that spanned decades and a sprawling friend group that criss-crossed the country. Laurie was a dedicated and warm mother, focused on developing kindness, empathy, and integrity in her children. As a wife, she was loyal, patient, and wonderfully loving to a man who gave her his entire world. A passionate member of her community, she was a member of Soroptimist Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Rotary International and the Fremont Yacht Club, attended church, and donated her time to various charities.
Laurie was vibrant, sweet, funny, and smart, but most will remember her for being fun. Never one to say no to a boat ride, a concert, a fabulous trip, or a margarita, Laurie lived her life to its fullest. She loved to roll around on the floor with her precious doggies, downhill ski, play piano, and spend time with her vast circle of loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Mike; children Natalie (Brendan) and Wesley (Gaby); sisters Debbie (Dennis), Barbara (Rick), and Donna (Jim); step-siblings Joe (Sheryl), Mike (Sandy), and Lisa (Todd); mother Dickie; her boxer Rocky, and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. Her father, Don and stepmother, Carolyn wait for her in Heaven.
