Kimberly Ann Polk

Kimberly A. Polk, 66, of Fremont, passed away at her residence Friday, October 31, 2025, after a quiet and courageous battle with ALS. Born in Fremont to Joseph and Patricia (Rooks) Polk, she graduated from Ross High School and then Miami University with a degree in Education. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and spent a semester in Luxembourg – igniting her love of travel.

As the owner of KP Planning, Kim excelled in planning meetings and events for large and small corporations in both the US and globally. Her client list was extensive as was her ability to handle virtually any aspect of an event with grace, calm and experience.

Outside of work, Kim loved running and proudly completed the Chicago Marathon, along with countless charitable races. Kim was also an avid reader and always showed up with a list of books, authors, speakers, and events she’d recently discovered. Her annual getaway with her girlfriends to Longboat Key, Florida was always filled with beach walks, sand dollars and days by the pool. (Although she never quite managed the art of SPF application.)

She loved living in Chicago and took full advantage of everything the city had to offer — cultural events, speakers, wine tastings and festivals. During the COVID pandemic, Kim moved back to Fremont to be with and care for her mom, Patricia, who shared Kim’s love of Jeopardy, and puzzles. That care continued even as Kim returned to work and juggled travel with caregiving — a testament to her deep devotion and boundless energy. Kim was an excellent audience — she loved hearing stories, and her smile, giggle, and tears-in-her-eyes laughter were the kind of reactions that made you feel loved. Her dry wit was only exceeded by her ability to fall asleep anytime, anywhere.

She is survived by her loving mother Patricia of Fremont; her brother Tom (Leslie) Polk of Twinsburg; Nieces Noelle (Caleb) Calvillo and Aleks Polk, and a circle of lifelong friends who will miss her endlessly. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph, her sister Kathy Dyar, and her brother John Polk. Kim’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the events she made unforgettable, and the stories that will be retold with laughter and love for years to come.
