Judy A. Laurer

November 18, 1949 — May 17, 2026

Fremont

Judy Ann Laurer, 76, of Fremont, is now peaceful and whole in the arms of her Heavenly Father. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, while surrounded by her family, she entered into Heaven.

She was born on November 18, 1949, in Fremont, the daughter of John and Teresa (Shondell) Swartz. She was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

On October 2, 1970, she married James J. Laurer at St. Joseph Church, sharing over 56 years together.

Judy worked as a nurse's aide caring for the elderly. She possessed a true servant's heart, bringing comfort, dignity, and a listening ear to those who needed it most.

Judy was an amazing cook and baker, preparing the most epic Thanksgivings for her family. She also devoted herself to family genealogy, spending countless hours uncovering her family's history and unearthing stories from the past. Her tireless research took her and her family on journeys to visit gravesites and connect with their roots. She proudly passed down her findings by creating countless scrapbooks for future generations.

Judy was also a gifted crafter and seamstress, creating handmade blankets and crafts with her grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with and listening to about their lives. Judy was a voracious reader and possessed the rare ability to read an entire book in a single day.

Judy leaves behind her cherished cat, Angel. They shared a beautiful and quiet companionship.

Surviving are her husband, James; children, Andrea (Rob) Burkett and Joshua (Crystal) Laurer, both of Fremont; four grandchildren, Joshua Laurer II, MaLinda (Brian) Gibbs, Alyssa Laurer (fiancé Aleczander Jenson), and Allison Laurer; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and siblings, John (Denise) Swartz, Kathleen (Brian) Hall, and Christine Lechman. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Jim Lechman; and nephew, Jason Swartz.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Sandusky County Humane Society. Online condolences may be expressed at Herman Funeral Homes: www.hermanfh.com
