Joyce M. King

Joyce Marie (Buehler) King, 93, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away on September 11, 2026 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. Born on April 21, 1933, Joyce lived 93 amazing years filled with faith, family, hard work and service to others. With her task list complete, she was ready to go home.

Joyce was married for 70 years to Walter N. King, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mercedes Buehler; her sister, Janet (the late Richard) Stone; and her son, Keith King.

She is survived by her sister, Joan (the late Donald) Bolen; her son, John (Mary Lou) King of Tiffin; and her daughter-in-law, Beverly King of Fremont. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jamie (Ben) Wheeler of Hillsboro, Eric (Megan) King of Tiffin, and Kyle (Alisha) King of Fremont. Joyce was the proud great-grandma of Wyatt, Chloe, Karlee, Cole, Brock and Blaine, and she was lovingly known as Aunt Joyce to her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to raising and caring for her family along with tending to the family farm, Joyce worked for Hasselbach Meats for many years, where she enjoyed sharing her love of agriculture with consumers. Many people in the community also knew her from her years managing the Red Barn Country Market.

Joyce was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church until its closure, after which she became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Her faith was reflected in the many ways she served others throughout her life.

An avid and talented quilter, Joyce made sure each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren received a handmade quilt. She also devoted countless hours to creating quilts for Trinity Lutheran Church's mission work, extending the warmth of her care far beyond her own family.

Joyce loved to bake, and her family eagerly anticipated holiday gatherings when everyone could count on leaving with a bag full of her homemade goodies. As her family grew, she took great pride in finding a way to keep everyone gathered around one dining table for the holidays. Family was the center of Joyce's life, and bringing everyone together was one of her greatest joys.

Joyce also generously gave her time as a volunteer with Share & Care and Sandco Industries for more than 20 years. Her kindness, strong work ethic and commitment to serving her family, church and community will be remembered by all who knew her.

A private celebration of Joyce's life will be held, followed by a private burial at Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
