Joyce Eileen (Barnes) Harruff, 75 of Gibsonburg passed away on April 8, 2022 at The Willows of Tiffin. She was born on May 9, 1946.
A 1964 graduate of Waite High School, Joyce went on to obtain a nursing degree from the University of Toledo in 1970. She worked as a waitress at TA Truck Stop, where she met her husband, James Albert Harruff, and went on to work at the fuel desk until her retirement in 1988. Joyce and James were married on August 24, 1971, and shared 50 years together until his passing on May 17, 2020.
Joyce's passion was studying genealogy, and she was a member of the Sandusky County Kin Hunters, as well as Friends of the Library. She also loved playing the piano throughout the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Amy (James) Lohbauer of Liberty Center, OH, Lora (TJ Nye) Harruff of Tiffin, OH; step-daughters, Robbin (Michael) McPherson of Web City, MO, and Lori Maree Brecheisen of Pittsburg, KS; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a brother, Wesley Roy Barnes.
Joyce is preceded in death by her father, George Wyman Barnes; her mother, Irene Virgina (Dziedzic) Barnes; husband James Albert Harruff; and her two brothers, Norman Wyman Barnes and Kenneth Hastings Barnes.
A graveside service for Joyce will be held on Saturday, April 16, at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg at 10:00 am with a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Gibsonburg American Legion Hall to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
