James William Reed, (83) passed away on May 10, 2023 at his residence.
Jim was born on July 8, 1939 in Fremont, OH to Beryl Lewis Reed and Neva Ellen Sielschott. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1957. He married Phyllis Dolweck, May 2, 1959 at St. Michael's Catholic church. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage before he passed. They lived on a farm and raised Polled Hereford cattle for 50 years. Jim was Postmaster in Gibsonburg, OH and retired after 36 years in the Postal Service.

Jim is survived by his wife Phyllis and sons Jim of Rossford, Jeff (Lisa) of Gibsonburg, Doug (Sonya) of Gibsonburg and AJ (Amy) of Gibsonburg. Also survived by Daughter-in law Valerie of Gibsonburg, grandchildren Alyssa (Kyle) Schneider of Grove City, OH, Austin (Sara) of Rossford, OH, Brooke, Ryan (Emily), Elise, Olivia and Derek all of Gibsonburg. Jim has two great grandchildren Ava Schneider of Grove City, OH and Tye Reed of Rossford, OH as well as three more on the way! Jim is also survived by a brother Robert (Sandie) of Lindsey, OH, sister-in-law, Marcella Kirwen and many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Neva and baby brother, step mother, Leta, his son, Timothy, as well as, granddaughter, Emma. Jim was very involved in his community. He served as Trustee of Madison Township for 24 years which led him to become Director of the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation and member of both the Sandusky County EMS Advisory board and Sandusky County Regional Planning committee. In addition, Jim served as a past President of St.

Michael's Church Council and member of their Finance Committee. When Jim's sons were young, he coached Little League baseball and for 20 years was a 4-H Advisor. Jim always enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren show Hereford cattle at the county fairs and all their sporting events.

Jim enjoyed farming but his real passion was for restoring antique tractors. He enjoyed traveling to tractor shows with his tractors. Jim was one of the initial members of Sandusky County Restorers of Antique Power (aka S.C.R.A.P.) and was a Lifetime member of S.C.R.A.P. He served as President of the Club for many years as well as Treasurer for 20 years. Jim belonged to the International Harvester Club, Sheppard Diesel Club (prior President), and International Edsel Club. Jim will be severely missed by all surviving family and friends.


Visitation will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2-8P.M. at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30A.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, OH. Fr. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Saint Michael Catholic Church. Online codolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
