Howard W. Brown

Gibsonburg

Howard W. Brown, 99, of Gibsonburg passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. A son to Samuel and Helen (Cole) Brown, he was born in Upper Sandusky on February 25, 1926. Howard was a 1944 Gibsonburg High School graduate and a former student at the University of Toledo.

Enlisted on October 28, 1943, Howard served in the Army Air Corps receiving an American Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

After the service, he worked for the Derrick in Gibsonburg as a printer press operatory until moving on to work in sales and as a shipping manager for the former Pfizer Lime Quarry. He retired in 1983.

On October 16, 1949, he married Mary Ann Rusher at Trinity EUB Church in Gibsonburg and they had spent 72 loving years together.

Along with being an active church member, Howard served as a councilman for 14 years for the Village of Gibsonburg. He was a member of the Gibsonburg Masonic Lodge 545. In his spare time, Howard enjoyed woodworking.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Patricia (Tom) Parlette of Gibsonburg, Robert Brown of Gibsonburg, Richard (Noreen) Brown of Gibsonburg, and Susan Loader of Zanesville; sisters-in-law, Rita Brown and Susie Rusher; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Brown, Donald Brown, and Earl "Bill" Brown and Phyllis Ottney.

Memorial donations may be made to Gibsonburg Community Church or to Birchard Public Library Gibsonburg Branch.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg on Tuesday, May 6 from 3-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Gibsonburg Community Church - Trinity Campus on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11AM with an hour of Visitation being held prior to the start of the service. Pastor Nick Blausey will officiate with burial following at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
