Gwen Waggoner, age 73, of Lindsay, OH was surrounded by her family at home when she met her Savior on May 15, 2024 after years of struggling with dementia. Born on April 22, 1951 to Charles and Carol (Dillon) Bixler in Upper Sandusky, she grew up the eldest of three sisters. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1969 and went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education with an Art minor from Grace College in 1973. On August 22, 1971, she married the love of her life, Daniel Waggoner. Gwen's life included work as a teacher, toll collector, tomato sorter, and working alongside her husband at his bike shop. No task was so important as raising the individuals who were blessed to call her "mom".
Gwen had a gentle spirit and a creative mind. She was gifted in drawing, painting, woodworking, and building. She loved collecting (especially thimbles) and antique shopping. She created a beautiful, happy home full of warmth for the people she treasured. Adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she loved them well and gave them a tremendous example of what it is to be a faithful follower of Christ, devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She was deeply involved in her family's lives, supporting their interests, and encouraging them along the way.
Her interests included travel and family camping trips, playing board games, riding bikes, following the Cleveland Indians, and listening to the Ohio State Marching Band, but the relationships she built while doing those things were what mattered most to her. Gwen loved spending time with family, especially creating memories with them at Marblehead and Lakeside. She loved her church family of over 50 years and served them faithfully through encouragement, cards, and meals until she wasn't physically able.
Cared for lovingly and selflessly until her last moment on this earth, her "Danny" was by her side through it all.
Gwen is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Dan Waggoner; their children, Rebekah (Steve) Wing, Benjamin (Erin) Waggoner, and Aaron (Jandie) Waggoner; 14 grandchildren, Noah (Morgan), Clayton, Rylyn, Reagan, Briar, Breslin, Rowyn, and Bristol Wing, Anna, Molly, Drew, and Hope, Ty and Mia Waggoner; 2 great-grandchildren, Wesley and Jack Wing; her sister, Gail (Ron) Adams, along with so many nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Greta.
