Throughout his life, Gilberto dedicated his time to serving his community, first with the Sandusky County EMS and later as a custodian at Terra Community College. Gilbert found solace in reading the Bible. Among his cherished pastimes were fishing, watching DVDs and engaging in conversations about his beloved band, the Rolling Stones. His four-legged companions also held a special place in his heart, bringing him joy and companionship throughout the years.
Gilberto is survived by his brother Santos (Virginia) Bocanegra Sr., of Fremont; sister Lucia (Michael) of Long View, WA; nephews and nieces: Regina (Keith) Price, Sara (Josh) Wehring, Elena (Joe) Schaumleffel, Daniel Bocanegra, Richard Mendoza Jr., Lisa (Gerald) Hergesheine, Becky (John) Goehring, Marcus and Maria Claxton: Some of Many Great-nieces and nephews: Adrienne, Mara, Isaac Wehring, Christy, Jamie and Josh Miller, Johnathan, Adam, Anthony and Jacob Goehring, Rachael and Richie Mendoza, Jasmine Wheeler, Simone Gamboa. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother- in- law Olga and Richard Mendoza, nephew Santos Bocanegra Jr.
A special thank you to the Valley View Care Center staff for their kindness, support and loving care. The Bocanegra family is forever grateful for all the care they provided Gilbert.
Private burial will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Care Center - Resident Care or Activities Fund.
