Gerald Fought

Gerald L. Fought, 81, of Gibsonburg passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 15, 1942 in Fremont to the late Kenneth and Gladys (Karr) Fought.

Gerald was a 1961 Fremont Ross High School graduate. Following high school, he worked for many years at Whirlpool's Clyde division.

As an active member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Green Springs, Gerald enjoyed nurturing his relationship with God and the congregation there, including the pastor, his dearest and best friend, Rev. Paul Tyree.

He married Janice Robbins on January 2, 1971. After 53 years of being a loving and devoted husband, he precedes her in death.

In addition to his wife, Janice, surviving are his sons, Dan (Patti) Fought of Toledo, Ken (Jill) Fought, Mike (Kelly) Fought of Gibsonburg, and Jeff Fought of Toledo; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (David) Burkett of Whitehouse; and sister-in-law, Norma Fought of Gibsonburg.

He is preceded in death by his brother, James Fought; and infant sister, Kenna Jean Fought

Memorials in honor of Gerald may be made to the Gibsonburg High School Athletics.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
