Lindsey

Gene L. Woodrick, 78 of Lindsey passed away at ProMedica Toledo Hospital on July 25, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on December 23, 1946, to the late Leonard A. and Lucile (Miller) Woodrick in Fremont.

After graduating from Fremont Ross High School, Gene proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 - 1970, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a carpenter early in life then later retired from the Turnpike Commission in 2010. As a young family, Gene and Carol enjoyed taking their children camping. He attended many Saturday night sprint car races, enjoyed watching NASCAR races, spent many Labor Day weekends at S.C.R.A.P. shows, and enjoyed watching Westerns. His family will fondly remember the memories made with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On November 16, 1968, Gene married Carol Copley, and together they have shared over 56 years of loving marriage.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol of Lindsey; children, Tami (Stanley) McMurray of Lindsey, Wesley Woodrick, and "adopted" daughter, Nicole (Scott) Cole; grandchildren, Stanley R. McMurray III, Seth McMurray, Blake Woodrick, and Ella Woodrick; “adopted” granddaughters, Alissa and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Maci and Elliott McMurray; siblings, Janet (Clyde) Michael and Ann Richardson (Stu Hall) both of Fremont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard A. and Lucile M. Woodrick; brother, Neil Woodrick; brothers-in-law, Wayne Longanbach and Larry Richardson; and sister-in-law, Joan Woodrick.

Donations in Gene’s name may be made to Carol Woodrick, towards the purchase of a commemorative tree in the Village of Lindsey.
