F. Henry Overmyer

F. Henry Overmyer, Jr. 88, passed away on August 3, 2021, in Lindsey, OH.

He was born on June 7, 1933 in Cleveland, OH, to the late Floyd Henry and Helen (Shaffer) Overmyer.

F. Henry graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1951. He started his career as a machine operator at Atlas Industries before going on to work as a dairy farmer with Twenty-One Maples Jerseys. He retired in 1995 from Luckey Farmers as a mill operator.

On September 5, 1953, he married Edith R. Wammes in Fremont. Together, they shared 49 years until her passing in 2002.

F. Henry was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a proud member of the Sandusky County Hawkeyes, the "Gun Shop", where he demonstrated rifling black powder rifle barrels, and a life member of the Sandusky County Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, creating parts for black powder guns and other metal works. He also enjoyed spending time at Aldrich pond and visiting the geese.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Tim) Paben, Floyd H. Overmyer, Cheryl Lynn Overmyer, Richard (Darlene) Overmyer, and Daniel J. Overmyer; son-in-law, Steve Sanford; grandchildren, Tanya Sutter, TJ (Leslie) Paben, Davi Anderson, James Overmyer, Rachel Sanford, and Christopher Sanford; 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

F. Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Edith; parents, Floyd Henry and Helen; daughter, Kathleen Sanford; infant sons, Thomas and James; and brother, J. Martin Overmyer.

A time of visiting will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg.

Services for F. Henry will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg, with an hour of visiting prior to services. Burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in F. Henry's name to Heartland Hospice or Meals on Wheels.
