Esther C. Gibson

Esther Clayola Gibson, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1926 in Fremont, Ohio and was the daughter of William and Sophia (Gahn) Busdicker. Born into a farming family, she was the youngest of six children and was very proud of her farmer roots.

Known for her determination, Esther worked at the S.S. Kresge Company while going to high school and was the first in her family to graduate.

She married Nelson Sherman Gibson II on July 8, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Together they founded and ran the Nelson Gibson Consulting Electrical Engineering Company where she worked as a bookkeeper for 50 years.

Esther was an active member of the community, often volunteering at Share & Care, a member of Abigail Circle and served as a Poll worker and a presiding Judge for the Sandusky County Board of Elections. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and sewing, including making quilts for Lutheran World Relief for over 20 years. Esther was well known for her big smile and cheerful personality.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cinda (Todd) Berman of Sylvania, Ohio; grandchildren, Spencer (Calli) Berman of Harrison Township, Michigan and Caitlin Berman of Alexandria, Virginia. She is also lovingly remembered by extended family, life-long friends at St. John's Lutheran church and Fremont community members.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Nelson Sherman Gibson II and her son, (Nelson) Sherman Gibson III, her parents and her five siblings.

Memorials in honor of Esther may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Fremont, Ohio or Ohio Living Health & Hospice of Greater Toledo.

Family and friends will be welcomed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont, Ohio on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM. Burial will be held privately.
