Ellen Kaye Tille, 83, of Gibsonburg, passed away on March 27, 2026, at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont. She was born in Gibsonburg on October 5, 1942, to Wilbur and Henrietta (Kaseman) Damschroder. Ellen was a 1960 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. She was a legal secretary for 10 years and then was a cook for Genoa Care Center for 12 years until she retired. Ellen was a current and long-time member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg.

Ellen had an infectious personality, full of humor and funny quirks, which are the root of the many stories her family and friends have about her. She loved cooking, doing crossword puzzles and trying her luck with lottery tickets. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the Ohio Lottery Cash Explosion, and when her ticket was drawn, one special person had the honor of being voluntold to go on the show while she enjoyed the experience from the audience alongside her family. Ellen also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who fondly remember going “can hunting” with Grandma on the golf cart in the countryside to find aluminum cans.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marla Hamons (Jose), Michael Tille, Matthew (Annette) Tille, Mark (Jessica) Tille; grandchildren, Oliver (Addyson Graves), Hannah (Ramon), Matt (Sarah), Marcus (Anna), Mason (Gracey), Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Crew and Creed; siblings, Douglas (Linda) Damschroder and Diane (Michael) Portell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Cade Tille.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, Ohio, 43431. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 S. Brentwood Drive, Gibsonburg.
