Edward J. Urban, “Ed”, 87, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Valley View Care Center. Ed was born on May 3,1934 in Conemaugh, PA the son of Edward and Mary (Stanislawczyk) Urban.  He was a graduate of Conemaugh High School and Clarion University in Pennsylvania.

A highlight of his college football career was being member of the Clarion University Football team and playing in the Lion Bowl in Greenville North Carolina. Clarion won the game.

In 1956 he married his college sweetheart Charlotte Otto.

After college graduation Ed taught school in Clyde from 1956 - 1969. He left Clyde Schools to run the family business Otto & Urban Flower Shop and Greenhouses in Fremont and Port Clinton. Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Elks.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years Charlotte Urban of Fremont; children: Lynn (Kim Myers) Urban of Fremont, OH; Edward (Lori) Urban of Port Clinton, OH; Kimberly (Eric) Theller of Fort Myers, FL; Gregg Urban of Fremont, OH; grandchildren: Alexa, Adam, Abbey, Bethany, Megan, Eric (EJ), Morgan; great-grandchildren: Hadley, Addison, Sage, Aspen, Aniston, Gracelyn, AJ, Brynn and Hadley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Urban.

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH 43420. A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00A.M. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road. Fr. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Burial will take place privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Fremont Tree and Beautification Commission. Online condolences may be expressed at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
