Don Austin Jett, 86, of Gibsonburg, passed away at Otterbein Perrysburg Senior Living on December 10, 2023. He was born on July 7, 1937, in Spencer, West Virginia.
Don married Geraldine "Jerry" Davis on May 23, 1975, in Belmont, Ohio at the Methodist Church. He was a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2007, and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 in Akron. After his retirement, Don moved to Gibsonburg, where he enjoyed working for the village of Gibsonburg by mowing the parks and wherever needed. Over the years he made many friends, especially over coffee breaks at the Ideal Bakery. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his 3 wheel bike with his great-grandson, Trent Kauffman, and great-granddaughter, Allison Faber.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Jett; step-daughter, Kathy (Wayne) Kauffman; his dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved as if they were his very own. They brought great joy to his life. Don is also survived by many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by step-sons; Thomas and James Smith; and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Herman-Veh funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. Pastor Nick Blausey will officiate.
