Diane K. Goebel

Diane K. Goebel, 75 of Fremont, passed away on September 26, 2026 in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side.

She was born on June 3, 1951 to the late Bernard and Anna (Sorg) Scherger and was one of four children.

Diane attended Lakota High School, where she graduated in 1969. After graduation, she attended Mercy College of Ohio and received her nursing degree in 1972.

On June 26, 1976, Diane married Richard Goebel, and together they shared over 20 years of love and memories before his passing in 1997.

Diane spent her career caring for others as an emergency room charge nurse at Fremont Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. After leaving the hospital, she continued her care for others at multiple nursing homes in Clyde prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking,baking and spending time with her granddaughters. She always looked forward to Christmas Cookie Day with family in the Cleveland area.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, John Goebel of Fremont, and Jennifer Goebel (Chris Parker) of Clyde; granddaughters, Hemy Parker and Sophie Parker; and siblings, Brother Bernard Scherger of East Troy, WI, Pat (Judy) Scherger of Fostoria, and Sarah Hirt of Fremont, Brother in law James Stone of Valley City and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Diane will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont from 10:00am-12:00pm. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral home, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery.

Donations in Diane's name may be made to her family.
