Diana Lee Schmidt, 89, of Oak Harbor, Ohio and previously of Columbus, Ohio and Lake Wales, Florida, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 10, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Julian and Millicent (Enderlin) Walters.

On August 25,1956, she married Charles Schmidt in St. Louis, and they celebrated 69 years of marriage before her passing.

In their early years of marriage, she devoted herself to their family and raising three children. Church was an important part of their life and they enjoyed singing in the choir each week.

When their children were grown, she and Charles bought a house in Ogunquit, Maine and she transformed it into a bed and breakfast called The Pine Hill Inn. Because of her hospitality and making guests feel loved and cared for, many returned year after year during the decade of operation.

After selling the Inn, she and Charles moved to Florida and embraced the RV lifestyle spending summers traveling the country while making and renewing friendships.

Later in life, she discovered porcelain painting and it gave her great joy to make and share beautiful pieces.

Throughout her life, she savored the time with family and friends and made them feel special, loved and cared for.

Recently, Diana and Charles returned to Ohio to be closer to family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles: children, Patricia (John) Wukie of Oak Harbor, Scott (Lettie) Schmidt of Columbus: grandchildren, Jesse (Maritza) Wukie, Jacob (Brianne) Wukie, Nathan (Ligia) Wukie, Wyatt Wukie, Linsey Schmidt, Alec Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Aria, Gemma, Caroline, Sophie and Lena; brother Ron (Jenny) Walters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Curtis Schmidt in 2011.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH, 43420. Additional visiting will be held Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Road, Fremont, OH.Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Pastor Kevin Pinkerton will officiate. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of services will be available by following the link on her obituary page.
