Conrad Emmett Shoup, 96 of Fremont passed away on April 29, 2023 at Bethesda Care Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born on October 10, 1926 to the late Russell Conrad and Elsie Maude (Kelly) Shoup in Tiffin. A 1944 graduate of Fremont Ross, Conrad went on to serve his country in the United States Navy in the 79th Seabee Battalion during the end of WWII. He worked for Sabroske Electric as a foreman, retiring in 1988.
On October 17, 1947, he married Cora Fought, and shared 57 years together before her passing in 2004.
Conrad was a very social person, enjoying his time with multiple associations such as the Electricians Local 8, Portage Valley Flying Club, Good Sam's, the Toledo 39ers Holiday Rambler Club, Boy Scouts of America, the 79th Seabee Battalion Reunion, and many other groups. He was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fremont.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Karen (Charles) Harris and William (Sandra) Shoup; grandchildren, Angela (Christopher) Hursh and Matthew Shoup; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hursh, LilyAna Hursh, and Ryker Conrad Shoup; step-grandchildren, Kellie Poole and Lori Halsey; John (Jean) Shoup, Peter (Serita) Shoup, Kelly (Duane) Harger, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Conrad is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Elsie; wife, Cora; daughter and son-in-law, Constance Joy (Philip) Klausz; brother, Roger S. Shoup; and nephew, Russell C. Shoup.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:30AM-12:30PM at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont with funeral services to follow at the funeral home. Burial will be held following services at Oakwood Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following services at Trinity United Methodist Church (204 North Wayne St. Fremont, Ohio 43420).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Conrad's name may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Fremont.
