Clifton (Pops) LaBree

June 25, 1933 — January 19, 2024

Clifton (Pops) LaBree, aged 90, long-time resident of New Boston, NH died peacefully on January 19, 2024 at the home of his daughter Vivian and son-in-law Chet Sytnik; loving caretakers for the last year of his life, in Bradner, Ohio.

He is pre-deceased by wives, Yolande Coache, Pauline Robie, and son, Kevin LaBree.

Cliff is survived by daughters: Evelyn LaBree of Rochester NH, Vivian Sytnik, Sharon LaBree of Mount Vernon; sons: Michael LaBree and Gerald LaBree of Hillsborough, NH, and step-son Richard Robie of Naples, Florida. Pops enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Monson, Maine June 25, 1933, to Raymond and Evelyn (Heaney) LaBree, the middle child of five siblings, Cliff often regaled his children with tales of growing up in his beloved hometown.

Cliff spent his teens and early 20s in Wells, ME where he met Yolande Coache. They married in 1954 during his senior year at UNH where he completed a degree in Forestry Science.

Losing his wife of 22 years to leukemia in 1977, Cliff was left to raise their six children.  In 1984 he married Pauline Robie. The loving couple were married for 29 years, until, in 2013, Pauline lost her battle with COPD.

Cliff was passionate about forest management throughout his life. The woodlands are where he found solace.  A life-long student of military history, in his later years he authored several biographies of military luminaries and a dozen historic romance novels.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a prolific author.   His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him and in the pages of the books he authored.

A memorial service will be held June 29, 2024 at French & Rising Funeral Home, followed by interment of the ashes at the family graveyard on Wilson Hill Road in New Boston, NH.
