Carole A. Kirsch, 84, lifelong resident of Gibsonburg, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026 with family by her side. She was born on July 26, 1942 to the late Max Landis and Florence (Brubaker) Lancaster. She lived a life defined by hard work, love and family. A true country girl at heart and devoted Ohio State Buckeye Fan.
Carole graduated from Gibsonburg High School. On June 20, 1959, she married her handsome Marine, Richard Kirsch, the summer of her junior year. Together they were married 64 years.
They raised their 4 children in the rural Gibsonburg community. She took pride in helping on the family farm and was never afraid of hard work. Among her many duties on the farm she enjoyed hauling grain to the elevator and catching up with the local farmers. She also served as a foreman for Interstate Road Management, formerly known as Chemi-Trol. Through her work, she had the opportunity to travel to many different states with the rolling hills of West Virginia being one of her favorites, making many memories and friendships along the way. Her strong work ethic and determination were a reflection of the woman she was in every part of her life.
One of the most special chapters of her life began on a rainy day, when Rich and Carole stumbled upon a cabin in Northern Michigan that would soon become their second home. What started as an unexpected discovery grew into a place filled with love, laughter and countless family memories. They enjoyed snowmobiling, mushroom hunting, the beautiful colors of fall and all the wildlife in the backyard. The cabin became a cherished gathering place where generations come together and stories are shared.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kent "Dewey" (Kathleen) Kirsch of Gibsonburg, Kurt T. (Jenny) Kirsch of Bowling Green, Kreg P. (Patricia) Kirsch of Gibsonburg, and Kelly C. (Steve) Peeler of Kansas, OH; grandchildren, Cassie (Jordan) Diekman, Chelsea (Andy) Schlagheck, Dante Kirsch, Kaela (Dan) Shaferly, Levi (Jenna) Peeler, Vincent (Emily) Kirsch, Karleigh Kirsch, and McKenzie Kirsch; step-grandchildren, Claire (Jake) Nelson and Lucas (Heidy) Eckel; and great-grandchildren, Gage, Hank, Piper, Bennett, Dylan, Eloise, Kane, Bowen, Jackson, Dawsyn, Stella, Skylar and her loving sister and best friend Juanita Weigman.
Carole is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and parents, Max and Florence.
