Bessie Runion

Bessie Ann Runion, 83, of Gibsonburg passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Brenham, TX. She was born on March 28, 1940 in Toledo, a daughter of Frank and Susanna (Oberhaus) Stroshine.

On May 26, 1956, She married Donald J. Runion at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Genoa. Together they shared over 61 years of marriage. Though she worked a variety of jobs in her youth, Bessie was a true homemaker. Once her children were raised, she was a trusted babysitter for several families in the community.

In her spare time, Bessie enjoyed playing the piano, cards, and Bingo. She also liked to take excursions going out to eat and camping trips. Before her recent move to Texas, Bessie attended Fremont Alliance Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sheree Ann (Terry) Hyde of Fremont and Laurie Jean (George) Crabtree of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Lindsay Lee (Justin) Sutter, Lucas Jon (Claudia) Gallagher, Stephanie Ann (Erick) Hatzidakis, and Jennifer Jean Warner; step-grandchildren, Tasha Louise (Duane) Tysiak, Carol (Brian) Arndt, and Teresa & Anna Hyde; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; great-grandson, Justin Kyle Sutter, Jr.; and siblings, Harold Stroshine, Edna Fondessy, Sophia Naus, Elmer McCallum, John McCallum, Celia Epke, and Elvie.

Family and friends will be welcomed to the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg on Monday, April 24th from 5-8 p.m. An additional hour of Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Glenn Merrill will officiate and burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.

Memorial Donations in honor of Bessie may be made to the Fremont Alliance Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
