Arthur "Big Art" Garza

Arthur “Big Art” Garza, 72, of Fremont, passed away on May 9, 2022. He was born in Capac, Michigan, on April 27, 1950, to his mother, Aurora (Sanchez) Garza, and father, Alberto Amador. Big Art worked for 18 years at Whitey’s Diner in Fremont, where he did anything from washing dishes to cooking. In fact, Big Art loved to cook. He was not only a grill master but also enjoyed making and selling burritos, and was affectionately known as the “Tamale Man”. He could often be found fishing and taking walks along the river or sitting on his porch drinking coffee. In addition, he loved golfing, watching football, working on his yard, and spending time with his family, which often times, also meant taking trips to Share and Care.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Crystal (Deandre) Banks, Cynthia (Adam) Pasch, Arturo “Arty” Garza, JaVonte Garza, all of Fremont; grandchildren, Ecenya, Marisa, Jewlius, JaTaveon, Jahailen, Mahala, JaTwan, Breylen, Alliseya “Stevie”, Landon, Aleigha, Janiya; siblings, Danny (Mary) Garza, Richard (Lois) Garza, Ralph (Joanne) Garza, Larry (Shannon) Garza, Robert (Janie) Garza, Roger Garza, David Garza; special nephew, Albert P. Mendez; special uncle, Pete Sanchez; best friend and furry companion, Junior.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ramon; nieces and nephew, Annabelle, Garz and Veronica Morales, and sister-in-law, Ritz Garza.

Visitation will be Monday, May 16, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Additional visiting will be held at theChurch, 1105 CR 41, Fremont, Ohio, 43420, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am at the church.
