Anne Irick

September 8, 1934 — August 4, 2024

Fremont

Anne Irick, 89, of Fremont, whose soul was as pure as the clearest water from a pristine stream, passed away August 2, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born September 8, 1934, in Delaware, Ohio, to Frank and Bertha (Romine) Spencer.

Her incredible intellect was only complimented by her love of life and the creatures that she nurtured. Decades of dedication to her family and friends cemented the bonds that created a loving community. Anne was a member of Hayes United Methodist Church in Fremont as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 70 years. At the church she was a past Finance Committee member. She was also involved with the ladies auxiliary at Memorial Hospital and Cosmopolitan Club treasurer of the Hayes Garden Club. She was an avid bridge player. She lived and loved gardening, fishing, high performance Mercury cars and traveling. No walk was too long, no problem, too hard to solve.

She graduated from Mt. Gilead High School and was a mathematician with two degrees from The Ohio State University- BS Business ’56 and Education ’61- and could easily change reality with a simple equation. Her first job was as a bookkeeper and a clerk for her parents clothing and jewelry business in Mount Gilead. Anne next taught high school business and math for the Marengo School District. She was also their district booker and Dean of Women. She left teaching after her first son, Brett, was born in 1963. Later she taught elementary special education math part-time for the Pittsford New York Schools. As a wife, she was loyal and as a mother, strong. Her sons, David and Brett, miss her. Her late husband, Carl, who passed away in 2019, after 62 years of marriage, shall welcome her into God’s grace with a smile. A more beautiful and caring life could never ask for, more kindness and love could never be given. A wish for eternal happiness to her is sincerely wished to her by all who have had the pleasure to know her. So beloved and so kind, this wonderful woman will be sorely missed. This woman of grace has walked a blessed path all of her life, and all who have met her are in God’s grace.

You shall be missed Anne, but never forgotten.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brett and David Irick, son-in-law, John Allen, sisters-in-law, Jean Irick and Rae Ann Irick, plus many nieces and nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents and her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Allen, and sons-in-law, Glen and Howard Irick.

Her memorial service with a tribute by the Order of the Eastern Star will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, 1441 Fangboner Road, Fremont, OH, 43420. Reverend Andrea Thurston will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 2570 West State Street, Fremont, OH, 43420.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
