Anita "Ann" Weickert

Anita "Ann" Weickert, 78, of Fremont, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2025. She was born on January 6, 1947, to Frederick and Viola (Gutknecht) Schling in Fremont. Ann was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

On October 30, 1965, she married Don Weickert at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fremont, and he survives. Ann was a devoted wife to Don for 59 years, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and a cherished great-grandmother. She found her greatest joys in life's simple pleasures-tending to her flowers, watching the birds outside her window, and spending time on the farm she loved so dearly, especially with her cows. She was always an avid Green Bay Packers fan, never missing a game and always cheering them on with enthusiasm.

A hardworking and determined woman, Ann was the proud owner of Sandusky Insurance Services, where she built lasting relationships with clients and served her community for 30 years. She had a deep love for the Sandusky County Fair, where she enjoyed watching her family show Hereford Cattle and their pigs. She grew up near the Sandusky County Fairgrounds, where her childhood was filled with the joy of caring for her dad's ponies and being surrounded by the excitement of fair season. That early love for agriculture and community carried through her life. Ann was also a member of the zoning board for Rice Township.

Ann's nurturing spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where her faith guided her life and relationships and where she was the secretary for the church council for many years. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Don Weickert, her sons, Jeff (Katrina) Weickert and Scott (Kelly) Weickert; brother Wilfred "Bill" (Tanya) Schling, Sister Barbara Schell and her grandchildren: Taylor (Colin) Timmons, Lindsay Weickert, Kelsey Weickert, Sydney Weickert, Ashley (Curtis) Smith, Melissa (Scott) Koenig, and Trevor Weickert; step-grandchildren Erika (Bob) Hersch, Ryan Stollings. Ann was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, who brought endless smiles and laughter to her days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Viola Schling and her brother, Jack Schling, whose love and influence helped shape the woman she became.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate staff at UTMC Heart and Vascular Center for their wonderful care over the past 15 years, as well as to Marcy Belcher for caring for Ann like family with such kindness, patience and love.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Additional visiting will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday. Pastor Matthew Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
