Albert Darr

September 3, 1937 — March 11, 2023

Albert "A.J." James Darr, 85 of Fremont passed away on March 11, 2023 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 3, 1937 in Fremont to the late Norbert J. and Lucille G. (Felder) Darr. 

In 1955, he graduated from St. Joseph High School and later went on to graduate from the Whirlpool Tool & Die Program. After school, Albert worked for T&A Saveway, Tony's Bakery, and lastly for the Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 2001. 

On November 9, 1957, Albert married Alice Ann Nieset at St. Michael Church, Gibsonburg, Ohio and they have celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Albert was devoted to his family and church. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Confraternity of The Blessed Sacrament. He enjoyed his garden and giving away the produce. He loved all sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. Albert coached YMCA flag football in the 80's. The Fremont Elite Runner's Club named him Runner of the Year in 1988. He was a faithful donor for the Red Cross. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice; children, Amy Lynn (Mark) Rospert, James Albert (Sara) Darr, and Ann Catherine (Anthony) D'Angelo; grandchildren, Angela Marie Rospert (Steven) Solovey, Carly Lynn Rospert (Arya) Chakraborty, Allyson Ann (Gregg) Pressler, Bailey Rose (Brady) Gunter, Ashley Erin McGee, Brayden Anderson Darr, Megan Riley Darr, Antonette Marie D'Angelo, and Anthony John D'Angelo II; great-grandchildren, Jude Pressler, Branson Rife, Alice Solovey, Dean Pressler, Nora Solovey, and Graham Gunter; siblings, Sally Wilhelm, Carroll (Jean) Darr, and Norma Darr; sisters-in-law, Helen Nieset, and Jane Aldrich; and brother-in-law, Dennis (Rita) Nieset.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sisters-in-law, Marie Strick, and Dorris Nieset; and brothers-in-law, Victor Nieset, Robert Wilhelm, Robert Kaminskas, Robert Aldrich, and Bob Strick.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, from 3:00-7:00PM at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont followed by a rosary service from 7:00-8:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday March 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Matthew Frisbee officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Millersville. 

Donations in Albert's name can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Our Lady of Toledo Shrine in Oregon.
