Carl M. Mathias, 81, of Clyde died Wednesday at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor. He was born in Fremont to James W. and Marguerite L. (Bognar)Mathias and they are deceased. Carl graduated from Ross High School in 1940 and worked for International Harvester in Fort Wayne, IN as a die sinker and also for the Herbrand Co. He loved bowling and fishing and he was a member and very active with the American Legion Post 121 and the VFW Post 2947. Surviving are daughters, Connie L. (Dennis) Snyder of Clyde and Caryn (Russell) Edmonds of Fremont; four grandchildren, Trevor and Tyson Edmonds both of Fremont and Kimberly Brandon and Darin Gill both of Clyde; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary C. Engler of Springfield; nieces Peggy (James) Wise and Mary McCullough all of Gallowaly. He was preceded in death by brothers, James H., Robert H., and Frank Mathias; sisters, Alice D. Fleckner and Jeannette C. McCullough and grandson, Larry W. Gill II. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
