Gertrude E. Shanfelt

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church for Gertrude E. Shanfelt, 96 a resident of Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Community in Pemberville for almost three years. Burial was at Metzger Cemetery. She was bon in Wyandot County to William and Mae (Van Orsdall) Miller. She graduated from Forest High School and Bowling Green State University. On May 3, 1933, she married Howard Shanfelt. Surviving are sons, Charles (Pat) of Gibsonburg, John (Sandra) of North Royalton and Earl (Kathy) of Kendallville, IN; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her husband Howard in 1982, brother, Leon Miller and sisters, Nina Miller, Edna Applegett and Mildred Hensel.
