Lula C. Ward, 96, of Gibsonburg, died Thursday afternoon at Windsor Lane Care Center in Gibsonburg. She was born in Hessville to the now-deceased Jesse and Hattie (Moll) Van Ness, March 11, 1928, she married John J. Ward in KY. He died August 2, 1990. Lula was a homemaker. She also worked at Union Carbide for 25 years, retiring in 1971. She is survived by son, Willard Bill Ward of Mobile, AL; daughter, Norma J. McClish of Woodville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Lula is survived also by sisters, Marguerite Aldrich of Pemberville, Clara Ellen Jenck of Fremont, Florence Shively of Gibsonburg and Dorothy Foss of Huron; and brothers, Jesse VanNess of Fremont and Claude VanNess of Martin. She was preceded by her parents, husband; sisters, Viola Schlea and Martha Shull; and brothers, Harold, Paul, Charles and Dale VanNess. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Judith Frank officiating.
