Fremont resident, Dennis J. Patynko, 71, passed away on Apr. 12, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrsyburg.
Born on Nov. 10, 1945 in Fremont to John C. and Doris (Fritz) Patynko, Denny graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1964 and attended The University of Toledo. He played football for both schools.
Denny enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1965 and was Honorably Discharged in 1971. He worked at TRW as a machinist for 40 years before retiring in 2006.
Denny was very active in the community. He was a life member of the Fremont American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, a 50-year member of the Sycamore Hills Golf Course, and a 30-year member of the Fremont Moose. Denny was also a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. He attended both the Fremont and Attica Speedways regularly for many years. Denny played on the Kelsey Hayes softball team; and loved racing, both Nascar and dirt track. He was interested in WW2 history and cherished his 2 Labs, Georgie and Millie.
Denny married Juanita Aldrich on November 15, 1974 at St. Casimir Church; she survives. Also surviving are children, Nathan J. Patynko and Timothy J. (Stephanie Ohms) Patynko, both of Fremont; grandchild, Cory J. Patynko; siblings, Priscilla (Ray) Gnepper of Fremont and Gary (Jennifer) Patynko of Lindsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be offered on Tuesday, April 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Interment with Military Rites will be at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Birchard Public Library or to the care of the family.
