Joyce Marie (Carnicom) Rathfelder

Joyce Marie (Carnicom) Rathfelder, 84, of Fremont passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Valley View Health Care Center, Fremont. She was born in Ottawa County on October 23, 1933, a daughter of Cameron and Agnes (Burling) Carnicom.

Joyce graduated with her class from Fremont Ross High School and on May 5, 1958, Joyce married Ralph L. Rathfelder in Covington, KY. They shared over 50 years of marriage until Ralph’s passing on Mar. 22, 2009.  

Joyce worked on the meat slice line at the former Eckrich of Fremont, retiring when the plant shut down in 1988.  She loved her family; was a great baker and cook; and enjoyed shopping and traveling.

Surviving are children, Monte (Vicki) Collins of Fremont, Tom Collins of Clyde, Cam (Anne) Collins, Larry (Cindy Smith) Rathfelder and Scott (Renee) Rathfelder all of Fremont; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 8 great, great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Carnicom.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughter-in-law Sandy Collins; grandson, Jonathan Rathfelder; and brother, Bill Carnicom.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, 3-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, where Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, 10:30 a.m.  Joyce’s grandson, Rev. Wayne Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
