Columbus, NC-Wanda Emch Veh passed away in the presence of her loving family on November 27, 2017 in Columbus, North Carolina where she resided at Tryon Estates.

Wanda was born April 29, 1930 in the Madison Township, Ohio home of her parents, Myron Emch and Gladys Johnson Emch. A graduate of Gibsonburg High School, she earned a BA in Fine Art in 1952 from Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She married Robert F. Veh in the campus chapel on July 5, 1952. They spent their first year of married life in Seattle while Bob served in the Korean War.

After returning to Ohio, Wanda taught art in the Gibsonburg public school before joining Veh & Son, Inc., a furniture store and funeral home business in Gibsonburg. Wanda created and led an interior design studio in the home furnishings business and, in 1979, became a licensed funeral director.

Throughout her life, Wanda enjoyed making art, especially painting, and encouraged others to recognize and create beauty. Her work appeared in many shows in Ohio and in North Carolina where she retired in 1986. Wanda continued to paint, in her home studio and in workshops, well into her ninth decade, even after losing the use of her left arm many years ago.

Together with her husband, Wanda was active in arts patronage, supporting the Toledo Museum of Art and Tryon Fine Arts Center among other museums, music and theater organizations. In Blowing Rock, NC, where they had a summer home, Wanda and Bob were founding patrons of the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM).

At Fostoria and Fremont Country Clubs as well as at Red Fox and Blowing Rock Country Clubs, Wanda enjoyed golfing and entertaining friends with Bob. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg and the United Congregational Church in Tryon.
